Dear LaGuardia Parents,
Welcome back! We hope everyone had a happy and healthy New Year’s, and that you’re rested and revived — because we’re jumping right in to 2015!
We have amazing events coming up that showcase the talents of our students from every studio! We also have a Donors Choose update for you. Your support – of our students, as they perform or exhibit their art, and of our teachers, through Donors Choose – is a wonderful way to start the new year.
Together, we’re going to make this the best year ever, so let’s get started!

Helping LaGuardia Classrooms in 2015!
Mrs. McGoey’s AP Psychology class got a wonderful gift on Christmas Eve! Her DonorsChoose project, valued at $973, was half-funded by KIA Motors Corporation andcompleted by LaGuardia parents. Thanks to your tremendous generosity, the class will be getting new anatomical models and posters.
Ms. Fischer has posted part 3 of her request for new graphing calculators – a new set of 8 – as many students cannot afford to purchase their own. Please help!

Why do LaGuardia teachers often post projects on DonorsChoose?
By now, we know you’re used to seeing information on Donors Choose projects from us. We’d like to take a moment and tell you why it matters. The school budget simply does not cover many basic classroom and studio needs. But there’s more to it than that. We are also fortunate enough to have teachers who are ambitious for our teens, and who want to provide them with the best possible education – above and beyond the basics.
It takes time to put together and post a DonorsChoose project – time on the part of the teachers and also on the part of the parents who coordinate the effort. The fact that this time is given willingly by the teachers and parents should make us all very grateful and happy for the school’s students!
DonorsChoose allows parents to make tax-deductible donations in any amount comfortable for learning materials that go directly to help LaGuardia classrooms! Many of our teachers’ projects also attract corporate grants and individual donors from outside the LaGuardia community. We encourage you to share our DonorsChoose links with friends and family via email, Facebook and Twitter. To date, LaGuardia projects have been supported by more than 1,400 donors.
