Sunday Night News

Dear LaGuardia Community,

WOW! LaGuardia has more stars than there are in the heavens!

Yes, we did steal that line from the old MGM film studios, but if you’ve already seen “In the Heights” you know we’re not exaggerating! Of course, to make it official who better to turn to than Neil deGrasse Tyson, famous astrophysicist, host of “Cosmos” and director of the Hayden Planetarium. It’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about stars — after all, he was spotted in the audience of “In the Heights” on Saturday. What do you say, Neil?

We think it speaks well for our students – who do a phenomenal job of balancing arts with academics – that many of them were just as excited about spotting Neil deGrasse Tyson on Saturday as were delighted to see Ansel Elgort on the same night!

But if you saw the show, you know the real stars were the kids on stage and behind the scenes. Over the next couple of weeks we hope to share some pictures with you, starting with the amazing Tech students and the equally amazing Music students. (And, in answer to the questions we heard buzzing through the audience, yes – the Tech kids actually built those apartment buildings from steel…and they have the welding gear to prove it! Anyone looking for a condo or a co-op? And yes, the Music kids really are that good!)

Next week, we’ll have more behind the scenes pix and…wait for it…pictures of the unbelievably talented cast – singing and dancing and… – well, you’ll just have to tune in next week!

You can still see the show!

Run, don’t walk!

There are still four performances left! Tickets for Thursday, December 11th at 7:30 p.m. are still available online. Click Here to purchase tickets.

For all other performances, the box office in the main lobby of the school will open one hour before the LAST THREE SHOWS on:
