Welcome to March, Music Families!

Happy Monday!

March is here and so is daylight savings (set your clocks forward Saturday night before bed), which means Spring isn't too far behind!

Spring Concert Season

We kick off our spring performance season next week with four performances of the Operetta: La belle Hélène - March 13 through March 15, followed by the Concerto Concert on March 27. Get your tickets now!

Looking ahead to April 2, we have our beloved annual tradition of the Riverside Choral Concert at the historic Riverside Church in Morningside Heights that you absolutely do not want to miss!

Tickets will become available for this event after the close of the Operetta. Many volunteers will be needed to make this wonderful event run smoothly, so stay tuned for communications from our Volunteer Coordinators, Sherry Stuart Berman and Sonya Houston.

Summer Music Camp Correction

Last week we added a new music camp selection to the running list housed at the bottom of this newsletter, 343 LABS, however, the link was broken. The link is now fixed, yeah! So, explore yet another exciting summer music opportunity for your students.

Music Studio General Meeting

We are still in the process of planning our March meeting and will update you soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions about joining the board next year (hint, hint), or about anything else, or maybe you'd like us to cover a specific topic, please email us at music@laguardiahspa.org

We'd love to hear from you, and work with you too!

Celebrating Women's History Month in Music

March is Women's History Month

March is dedicated to women who have made remarkable strides and contributions to our world, with International Women's Day being observed on March 8th - an annual celebration that recognizes women's contributions across various fields and brings awareness to gender equality, while promoting empowerment. This year's theme is "Accelerate Action".

This month, we will center around women's contributions in music. We begin with Marin Alsop, a violinist, and the first female conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Listen to her interview from the 2013 PBS Documentary "Makers: Women Who Make America", which examines how women have helped shape America over the past 150 years. Click the photo to watch and learn more.
