Message from the Reps

Happy 2025, Music Families!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season!

A new year is here and with it, our Winter Concert Season, which kicked off this past Saturday with the Gospel Choir's Better! concert. As usual, the choir and the band brought everyone to their feet throughout the night.

If you didn't get a chance to see it, be sure to catch the next one in the spring!

We thank everyone for coming out and supporting your students and your Music Studio with your donations and purchases.

Music Studio General Meeting

Thank you for joining us at our last Music Studio General meeting, which was held on December 18, 2024. We hope you found it informative. If you were unable to join, you can find the minutes along with the recording HERE.

Please join us on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 7:30pm for our next general meeting via ZOOM. We will be joined by a panel of 2024 LaG Alums to discuss their transition to college, including taking a gap year.

Mr. Carbone's Project Has Been Fully Funded!

Mr. Carbone's most recent project was to add a Fox 333 oboe to the instrumental program. An oboe has not been purchased for the program in over 10 years. Here's a heartfelt response from Mr. Carbone:

"Thank you all for your incredible support! My students will be thrilled to have a new oboe in our ensemble. Thanks to your generosity, This new addition will not only help the individual student to grow and thrive but also enhance the overall sound of our ensemble. The impact of this gift will be heard at concerts, and felt across our ensembles and program for years to come.

Thanks again, Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year!

With gratitude,
Mr. Carbone"

ITW Pit Orchestra - Omission

Unfortunately, Sophia was inadvertently omitted from the ASM playbill, and therefore, not in our ITW Pit Orchestra shout out in the December 10th edition of Music Monday.

So, we want to recognize her now!

The Music Studio Congratulates Sophia Coffey, a senior instrumental major whose main instrument is piano. She has played piano for over ten years, and also plays violin in LaGuardia’s Symphony Orchestra.

Blurb From Ben

Dear Music Studio Families,

Happy New Year and welcome back!

I hope your holidays were enjoyable and restful.

January is an exciting month for the Music Studio, as many of our fall classes culminate in concerts.

One of the best ways to both support our program and have a great night out is to attend our concerts. All concert proceeds go directly to support our program. Our program needs include the upkeep of instruments, purchasing of music for our ensembles, and funding teaching artists that work with our students.

Tickets for January concerts can be purchased here and you can find the performance calendar here.

I look forward to seeing you at one of the concerts.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at Bschott@schools.nyc.gov if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Schott

Assistant Principal - Music
