IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Parent Teacher Conferences

March 20th in the evening.

March 21st in the afternoon.

***On Friday, students end school at 11:50 am.

We're excited to announce that many of our teachers have transitioned to using Jupiter Grades for scheduling Parent-Teacher Conferences in response to overwhelming requests from our parent community. Teachers began sending scheduling notifications on Wednesday, March 12th. As this is our first time implementing this system, we recognize there are opportunities to improve the rollout process in the future.

If you haven't received an email from your child's teacher:

  • Log into Jupiter to check if your child's teacher has created time slots for conferences.

  • If the teacher is not listed in Jupiter, they should have contacted you separately to arrange conferences through an alternative method.

  • Remember that families do not need to wait for PT Conferences in order to contact any staff member about your child.

PSAT/SAT Day March 18th

Who takes the P/SAT on March 18?

On March 18, Sophomores and Juniors are registered for the PSAT (10th grade) or SAT 11th Grade. Students need to check their nycstudents.net email account for information, including room assignments, reminders, rules, etc. (TIP: Check your nycstudents.net email before you leave the house on test day as there could be last-minute adjustments or instructions.)

What do I need to take beforehand?

The P/SAT Test will be administered digitally (on the computer). Please be sure to follow all instructions. Students should check that their laptop or tablet works with the test -- Do not wait until the last minute.

When do I arrive for the test?

Arrive at school at 8:05am.

Is the test on paper or online?

Online. You must bring a laptop or tablet. Load the application prior to arriving at school. We recommend that you do not wait until the last minute in case your device does not work.

I don't want to take the test. What should I do?

If you do not wish to take the exam, arrive to school for Period 3 class (12:39 pm). You do not need to notify the school prior.

What do I do for lunch?

Lunch is available in the Cafeteria.

Only students who have Open Lunch Forms on file are allowed to leave building during the Lunch period. Regular Open Lunch process is followed, meaning you must scan your ID when exiting/reentering the building.

SLT Meeting

Tuesday, March 18th @ 4:30pm

Principal’s Conference Room, 2nd Floor

All families are welcome to observe an SLT meeting.

Advance Placement Exams

Payments for AP Exams are now being accepted through the school’s website. This Form is not for adding/dropping exams, requesting financial assistance, requesting income-based fee waivers, etc.

Students were instructed earlier in the year to go into their CollegeBoard account and actively select “yes” of “no” indicating whether they were or were not taking a specific exam. Student invoice amounts were determined by the exams a student indicated “yes” for. Exam fees were reduced based on a family’s Income Verification Form or request for financial assistance. (The deadline for requesting financial assistance and fee waivers was March 7, 2025).

If you have questions specifically about adding/dropping exams, do not fill out the form and make payment. Instead, email Ms. Kawasaki at tkawasaki@schools.nyc.gov.

How do I know the amount I owe for my AP Exams?

This information is found on a Student Schedule in the Period 0 / Day 1 section.

How do I know which exams are being ordered for me?

The exams a student is registered in are found on a Student Schedule, Periods 12 – 16.

Where is the AP Exam Order Payment Form?

AP Exam Payment Form
A Convenience Fee is charged by our website/credit card processor. The amount is 2.9% + 30 cents (per form submission). Once you select your invoice amount, you can see the total amount due at the bottom of the page.

AP FINALS TEST PREP!

The Academic Forum has arranged to offer LaGuardia students 15% off any COMPASS AP group course review and 25% off Compass AP practice tests (including their Spring checkpoint) using the code ACADEMICFORUM

The usual price is $395 per course. The best way to track how you are truly doing in an AP class is to take an AP practice exam! Strong results on AP tests result in greater acceptance rates to college and often eliminate the need to take certain course requirements at certain colleges. Classes start in early April and the tests are given in May.

Please refer to https://www.compassprep.com/classes/ap-exams/ for further information or reach out to Torsten Sannar torsten@compassprep.com for assistance.

Eric Anderson at COMPASS recently led a webinar centered on AP policies, their growing prominence in the testing landscape, and their approach to some of the more popular AP tests. He was joined by two of their most experienced AP instructors. Highly recommended. This is a good place to start for any LaGuardia families looking for an overview and more information about Compass.

You can access the webinar HERE.

Confirmation and more details about this trip probably will not happen until April.
