LaG Jazz Students Receive a Surprise Visit

Pictured from left to right:  Ben Leviathan, Pat Metheny, Kevin Blancq

On Friday, June 7th, jazz students had a surprise visit from LaGuardia neighbor, Pat Metheny. We hope that this visit is the first of many to come. Pat avidly listened to our Jazz Orchestra perform two selections. Clearly pleased with their musicality, Pat proceeded to speak about his beginnings and drew focus to the importance of each musician finding their own sound and direction. He also told them “We are counting on YOU to move the music forward to the next stage of its development."

For his many many musical accomplishments, Pat’s modesty and honesty really stood out to the students and we were all left with feelings of inspiration and optimism.

Special thank you to Patricia Dinely Chesky for coordinating this opportunity for our students!!

Blurb From Ben

Dear Music Studio Families,

This is it!

It's hard to believe that we have come to the end of another school year and another incredible concert season. I hope you've had multiple opportunities to come out and see the students perform and watch them grow as musicians throughout the school year.

Thank you so much for your support of our students and our program. As you know, it is our partnership with families that makes our program work.

Please attend the Music Studio PA's final meeting of the school year, tomorrow evening at 7:30pm. I will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to joining you tomorrow evening on Zoom.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at Bschott@schools.nyc.gov if you have any questions or concerns.
