Happy Monday, Music Studio Families!

We hope you had a great weekend and have been enjoying this gorgeous weather!


MUSIC STUDIO ELECTIONS ARE HERE!

TONIGHT, June 3, 7:30pm, please join us via ZOOM to elect your Music Studio Reps and step-up to volunteer for the 2024-2025 school year!

The positions of Vocal Rep and Instrumental Rep will be elected. All other board positions are non-elected positions and not voted on unless contested. Please note that all Music Studio board positions, whether elected or not, require 100% commitment and participation. The Music Studio Board is a team and all members are expected to attend all meetings and help throughout the year during concerts, events, fundraisers etc. as their schedule allows.

General Overview of Music Studio Board Positions are as follows:

Instrumental Rep+ Rep-In-Training- forward-facing role responsible for representing all instrumental families, heading all board meetings and general Music Studio meetings, attending meetings with the General PA Exec Board, and meetings with AP of Music Studio

Vocal Rep + Rep-In-Training - forward-facing role responsible for representing all vocal families, heading all board meetings and general Music Studio meetings, attending meetings with the General PA Exec Board, and meetings with AP of Music Studio

Audit Manager + Assistant - responsible for keeping accurate financial records and accounts of Music Studio income and expenses, depositing of all monies into PA bank account

Fundraising Coordinator - responsible for creating, implementing and follow-thru of fundraising events

Corresponding Secretary + Assistant - responsible for communications such as newsletters, website, push notifications

Recording Secretary + Assistant - responsible for note taking at all meetings and distribution of minutes

Merchandise Director + Assistant - responsible for designing/planning, ordering and replenishment of merchandise. Requires coordinating with school staff to receive shipments

Volunteer Coordinator + Assistant - responsible for canvassing and organizing of volunteers for various concerts/events


SPRING SEMI-ANNUAL CONCERT

THANK YOU FOR A FUN NIGHT OUT!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Mochi Dolci last Wednesday for a special Music Studio end-of-the-year gathering! It was a delightful evening in a whimsical speakeasy, filled with laughter, comraderie, and of course, karaoke. We hope to do something similar next year and look forward to seeing you all there!

Spring Semi-Annual Concert
Spotlight on the LaGuardia Gospel Choir
LaG Gospel Choir & Band Opens for Andra Day!

The LaGuardia Gospel Choir had the honor of being invited back, for the second year in a row, to perform for the Opening Day of the Central Park Foundation SummerStage Events this past Saturday.

Twenty-five members of our LaGuardia Gospel Choir & Band opened for Andra Day. The event was at capacity and the students represented LaGuardia in true form.

Your donations assist in covering the many expenses of the Music Studio, which in turn helps our students. While we work to continuously support our students and teachers, we definitely cannot achieve this without your help.  These necessary funds are used to purchase the music our students perform, workshops, master classes, professional development, accompanists and so much more.

SING FOR HOPE SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS CAMP REGISTRATION

We are looking for all voice types who will get solo opportunities at our performances in NYC. We are also casting a small chamber girls ensemble that will make their debut at the Bard Summer Music Festival on August 11, 2024.

For NYC students: Take the Metro North to Mount Vernon East and walk 2 blocks to the school. We will provide a chaperone from Grand Central if a group would like to go together.

The Sing for Hope Youth Chorus is Sing for Hope’s musical ensemble that provides creative service learning through rehearsal and performance for children and youth ages 8-18 via an innovative multi-age model. At once global and hyperlocal, The Sing for Hope Youth Chorus is our pride and joy, currently centering a core group made up of young singers from across the New York Metropolitan area. Performing subset groups include Girls’ Chorus, Gospel Choir, and more.  


UPBEAT NYC

Are you looking for more opportunities to make and study music after school? 

UpBeat NYC provides a warm, supportive community to rehearse with other South Bronx students in ensembles and orchestras and receive private lessons with caring teaching artists. UpBeat instructors are highly qualified and experienced instrumental musicians and music educators who believe in UpBeat’s philosophy of creating access and equity for young NYC musicians.

- UpBeat NYC prioritizes providing our programming to families who would otherwise not be able to afford it.

- All UpBeat programming is FREE of charge for South Bronx youth.

- Performing groups include string ensembles and orchestras, wind bands and Afro-Latin jazz ensembles.

- Classes take place after school and during our July Summer Intensive.

- Private lessons are available to all students.

This summer, our Brooklyn Harmonics Teens Vocal Camp for ages 13-18 runs from July 22-26! Led by co-directors of the Brooklyn Harmonics Teens, Tweens and Twenty+ Vocal Program, this camp focuses on close harmony ensemble singing, breathing and vocal health, interpretation and style, microphone technique and more, culminating in a performance in the BKCM Concert Hall.
