Happy Monday, Music Studio Families!

We hope you had a lovely weekend!

Did you have a chance to come out for the Spring Gospel Choir Concert?

It was another outstanding and uplifting performance, filled with palpable energy that reverberated throughout the concert hall. Below, you'll find a few photo highlights.


Our Spring Concert Series Continues...

Please join us TOMORROW as our spring concert series continues with  the Riverside Choral Concert  - you won't want to miss these angelic voices in the historical Riverside Church! 

The Riverside Choral Concert has been a tradition at LaGuardia for over 15 years.  Senior Chorus, Cantare, Cambiata and Treble Chorus will perform a program of choral literature featuring folk songs, contemporary pieces, spirituals, and other great choral works. The program will end with a piece that all of our curriculum choruses will sing together, including Elementary Chorus!

Chaperones, ushers, ticket sellers and takers - WE NEED YOU!

Especially the chaperones! All vocal students need to be able to rehearse at Riverside, which can't happen if we don't have enough chaperones.

Come out tomorrow evening to see another amazing concert at the historical Riverside Church, for the Spring Choral Concert, featuring all of our curriculum choruses. Our students have been working so hard all school year, so lend your support and witness their growth in musicianship.

The Music Studio thanks you for your continued donations and support for our students and studio. Your donations assist in covering the many expenses of the Music Studio, which in turn helps our students. While we work to continuously support our students and teachers, we definitely cannot achieve this without your help.  These necessary funds are used to purchase the music our students perform, workshops, master classes, professional development, accompanists and so much more.

New Program Spotlight

ArtsBridge Summer Screen Acting

We are thrilled to announce our newest program: ArtsBridge Summer Screen Acting! Led by Chapman University faculty John Benitz, students in this 4-day add-on program will discover a whole new world of acting for the screen. Through a series of exercises and hands-on experience, students will build foundational screen acting skills. The program will culminate in the filming and screening of partnered scenes, allowing students to experience the entire process from rehearsal to professionally edited work.

SING FOR HOPE SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS CAMP REGISTRATION

We are looking for all voice types who will get solo opportunities at our performances in NYC. We are also casting a small chamber girls ensemble that will make their debut at the Bard Summer Music Festival on August 11, 2024.

For NYC students: Take the Metro North to Mount Vernon East and walk 2 blocks to the school. We will provide a chaperone from Grand Central if a group would like to go together.

The Sing for Hope Youth Chorus is Sing for Hope’s musical ensemble that provides creative service learning through rehearsal and performance for children and youth ages 8-18 via an innovative multi-age model. At once global and hyperlocal, The Sing for Hope Youth Chorus is our pride and joy, currently centering a core group made up of young singers from across the New York Metropolitan area. Performing subset groups include Girls’ Chorus, Gospel Choir, and more.  


UPBEAT NYC

Are you looking for more opportunities to make and study music after school? 

UpBeat NYC provides a warm, supportive community to rehearse with other South Bronx students in ensembles and orchestras and receive private lessons with caring teaching artists. UpBeat instructors are highly qualified and experienced instrumental musicians and music educators who believe in UpBeat’s philosophy of creating access and equity for young NYC musicians.

- UpBeat NYC prioritizes providing our programming to families who would otherwise not be able to afford it.

- All UpBeat programming is FREE of charge for South Bronx youth.

- Performing groups include string ensembles and orchestras, wind bands and Afro-Latin jazz ensembles.

- Classes take place after school and during our July Summer Intensive.

- Private lessons are available to all students.

- UpBeat participants have opportunities to perform in ensembles and as soloists at numerous public performances in the Bronx and throughout NYC.

PIERROT CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Pierrot Chamber Music Festival includes programs for pre-college students (entering grades 7 through 12 for fall 2024) and college/conservatory students.

Festival Awards for pre-college students and college/conservatory students and Fellowships for college/conservatory students.

The Pierrot Chamber Music Festival runs from July 15 to July 26 at Adelphi University's Performing Arts Center and includes daily chamber music coaches by Festival Faculty, performance master classes, chamber orchestras, educational residences and a concert series over two weeks featuring faculty, guest artists and festival participants. NATIONAL CHILDREN'S CHORUS - VOCAL AUDITIONS 

Auditions are OPEN NOW for the National Children’s Chorus Fall 2024 Season in New York!


The GRAMMY® Award-winning National Children’s Chorus, with weekly rehearsals by Lincoln Center, provides children ages 5 to 18 the opportunity to learn and grow in an extraordinary musical environment. The country’s leading music educators work with students weekly to develop their vocal and musicianship skills from the most basic concepts through the college level. This summer, our Brooklyn Harmonics Teens Vocal Camp for ages 13-18 runs from July 22-26! Led by co-directors of the Brooklyn Harmonics Teens, Tweens and Twenty+ Vocal Program, this camp focuses on close harmony ensemble singing, breathing and vocal health, interpretation and style, microphone technique and more, culminating in a performance in the BKCM Concert Hall.
