First, parents must know their child's OSIS/Student ID number. This is a nine-digit number that every student in an NYC public school has. You can find the number: 

-on your student's school ID card

-on your student's transcript or report card

-by signing into your NYCSA account 

Second, after you join the Zoom call, you must rename yourself with the last 4 digits of your student's OSIS number.

Detola Badmus, LaG vocal senior, has been selected as a 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts! This is an incredible honor as there are only 161 high school seniors chosen across the country and only 20 of these are scholars in the arts! 

“The 161 high school seniors selected for the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Presidential Scholars program represent the best of our nation’s schools and inspire hope in the bright future of this country,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. “On behalf of President Biden, I am delighted to celebrate their accomplishments, and encourage these scholars to continue to aim high, lift up others, and embrace opportunities to lead.”

Free SAT Prep or Virtual Near-Peer College Mentoring 
Let's Get Ready openings for SAT prep will close on May 22. The FREE SAT Prep program runs from June 10-August 9 with students meeting either Monday and Wednesdays or Tuesday and Thursdays (EST). Additionally, for students who are not interested in SAT Prep, they offer virtual near-peer college mentors who provide support, encouragement, and helpful tips on navigating college. Apply HERE. We are looking forward to Observation Week being held this week from 5/13-5/17. Observation Week provides parents with the opportunity to watch their dancers either in person, or on zoom. Please refer to the email sent by Mr. Sinacori on May 6th for more details on the schedule and the zoom link.

Additionally, dance merchandise will be sold on Monday and Friday after morning and afternoon Observation Week classes.  We still need a few volunteers for the Monday afternoon slots, and Friday morning/afternoon slots. Please consider signing up here to volunteer, especially if you will already be in the building.

Tickets are on sale for the end of year Senior Dance Concert, being held May 31st through June 2nd.  Please support our dancers by buying tickets here.

Off-site Senior ART exhibition - The Boiler in Williamsburg

Please see the LaGuardia Fine Art Studio's FIRST EVER off-site Art Show, Perspective: 17 Artists Discover the Bond that Ties US Together. The show will be open for two weeks, May 4-18. The gallery is free of charge and open to visitors daily from 1-6 p.m. The Boiler, 191 N 14th Street, Brooklyn. 

The Annual ART Studio PA Logo Design Contest will kick off this week

LaGuardia High School Art Studio parents are seeking a logo design to be used on our website and select art studio merchandise for the 2024-2025 school year. Look for email so your student can enter the Art Studio PA 2024-2025 Logo Design Contest.

The NYC DOE Substance Abuse Prevention and Intervention Specialists (SAPIS) program provides a range of prevention and intervention services in grades K-12. The goals of the program are to:

  • Reduce the prevalence of substance abuse among youth
  • Delay the initiation of substance abuse behavior among youth
  • Decrease the negative health, social, and educational consequences associated with substance abuse
  • Prevent the escalation of substance abuse behaviors to levels requiring treatment
