Jazz Orchestra in Copenhagen

The LaGuardia Jazz Orchestra just returned from their spring break excursion to Copenhagen, Denmark!

During this trip they collaborated with the Sankt Annæ Gymnasium school (Denmark's LaGuardia), and spent their week visiting local attractions like The Little Mermaid statue, Amalienborg (official residence of the Danish royal family), and For Frelsers Kirke (a church with amazing views of Copenhagen.)

The group also went on bike tours around the city, met with Danish composer, Lars Møller, and performed a joint concert with SAG in a local venue, The Absalon!

Thanks to so many people's donations, our Jazz Orchestra truly had a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Spring Break with NY Philharmonic Youth Orchestra
Building Tomorrow's Legacy Today

During spring break, some LaGuardia students had the opportunity to perform alongside other students from all across the city in "the culmination of Building Tomorrow's Legacy Today, the New York Philharmonic's weeklong celebration of music education, part of the Orchestra's activities marking the centennial of the Young People's Concerts."

~ New York Philharmonic Education & Community Engagement

The NY Phil invited more than 20 community partners to nominate student musicians to perform in a free concert conducted by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. One hundred students were selected from across all five boroughs. Some of them also performed alongside the NY Philharmonic Orchestra in the Spring Gala Concert.
