Dear LaGuardia Community –
We’ve made it! We’re now officially TWO DAYS into the new school year. This is going to be the best school year ever! (Yes folks, get used to it – we’re glass half-full people and we love our kids and their school!)
Maybe you’re not feeling as wildly optimistic as we are…you’re a freshman parent who may have encountered a speed bump (or two?) or you’re a senior parent who’s nervous about the college process.
Well, we have some good news for you! This Tuesday at 6:00 PM you’ll have a chance to meet your studio reps and ask questions/get answers. Then at 7:00 PM you’ll hear from usand from our new Parent Coordinator and from our wonderful principal! Plus, if you’re a freshman parent you can throw your hat into the ring for TWO POSITIONS – one on the EB and one on the SLT!
But wait, there’s more!
The Academic Forum has THREE SPECIAL MEETINGS coming up!

On Tuesday, Sept. 16th from 6:30 to 8 PM we’re inviting all our incoming parents to

“New to LaGuardia – Especially for Freshman Parents.”
On Tuesday, Sept. 30th from 6:30 to 8 PM we’re inviting Juniors, Seniors and their parents to join us for “College Boot Camp for Procrastinators” with Liz Willen, the parent of a recent LaG grad and a current LaG senior. Liz is a long-time education journalist who has spent years covering higher education, visiting college campuses and talking to admissions officers. She will share a parent’s perspective about the often chaotic and arduous application and college admissions process, so others can learn from her experience, mistakes, and successes, including her top ten dos and don’ts.
Then on Thursday, Oct. 23rd from 6:30 to 8 PM we’re inviting Sophomore, Junior and Senior parents to join us for “College Financing: What You Need to Know and Do Now” presented by LaGuardia parent Michael Terry and founding principal of MTP Advisors, a financial planning and registered investment advisory firm based in Maspeth, Queens. He has been doing this presentation for many years for us and it has always been one of our most popular evenings.
