October 12, 2014
Dear LaGuardia Community,
We hope you’re enjoying this three-day weekend and taking some time to stop and smell the roses. Enjoy the moments – they go by so quickly. One measure of the passage of time will take place this Wednesday at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park as seniors assemble for their class picture. This is a joyful occasion for seniors and parents alike!
We need parent volunteers to meet us at the school on Wednesday, October 15th at 8:30 AM to share in the happiness. Please sign up by clicking here
In keeping with our theme of embracing the moments which memories are made of, we heard from our friend Barbara Engel, who heads up Alumni & Friends of LaGuardia (A&F). She reminded us that the friendships our teens have formed in their four years at the school will last throughout their lives. Those bonds are why the school’s alumni and friends continue to support the school and – drum roll, please – its students.
We’re very happy to announce that A&F is inviting students to apply for mini-grants of up to $500 each for extracurricular projects.
Take a moment to process this information; we’re not asking you for money, we’re telling you about money that’s available! For more information, click here or go to alumniandfriends.org
and select “Forms” and then “Mini-Grant Applications.”
And, in more news:

Thank you to everyone who responded to all our Donors Choose projects; they are now all fully funded! As Mrs. McGoey wrote in a lovely thank you note for the AP Psychology textbooks, “We, the teachers and students at LaGuardia, are lucky to have you [the parents] as an integral part of our community.” The feeling is mutual Mrs. McGoey!
We try to reach as many LaGuardia parents as possible. If you know a parent who isn’t receiving these emails, please have them sign up by clicking here
or going to www.laguardiahs.org/emailsignup
Fill out all of the information needed and make sure you click the “LaGuardia Families” list. Make sure you complete the form by entering the studio and graduation year of the student or you will NOT get emails from your studio or for your student’s specific year – for example, college news for seniors
You can always “Forward this email” (see link at bottom) and, if needed, “unsubscribe” at any time by clicking the button at the bottom of any email from us.
